Congratulations to the 2025 NZCT - Student Officials of the Year; Rebecca Bailey (St Oran's College) and Ashton Foote (Kapiti College)

Rebecca Bailey

Rebecca is an exceptional multi-code official, excelling in netball, touch, and volleyball. A Netball New Zealand Zone qualified umpire, she regularly officiates senior college and club grades. She also holds official qualifications in both touch and volleyball, which she utilises across College competitions.

Respected for her confident decision-making and strong game knowledge, she is a talented and dedicated official with the potential to go far in each of her codes.

Ashton Foote

A highly accomplished official across both Rugby and Touch Rugby, Ashton has refereed Senior and College Rugby, including Senior Reserve Men’s games, the College Sport Wellington Division 3 Final, and served as Assistant Referee for Senior Men’s Premier Rugby.
He has also officiated major Touch events, including the NZ Secondary Schools, Māori, Junior, and Opens/21s Nationals, as well as the Asia Pacific Youth Touch Cup in Brisbane — where he was the youngest referee. Ranked number three Youth Referee in New Zealand, Ashton exemplifies professionalism, dedication, and excellence in officiating.
